The main news since a quiet Easter has been that Ruth has finished her first full draft of her PhD. That
was on the 12th, before we went to Retford for the Whittaker Weekend, and since then, she's had a supervision (on the 24th) when her
supervisors sprung an impromptu viva upon her. She survived! She's been busy writing up supervision notes, and making some changes
to parts of the draft in the light of suggestions. But all in all she's okay.
The Whittakers' Weekend (13-15, or 16
in some cases, April) went well. Ruth and her magic animals beans (spongy creatures in a pellet released by bathing in hot water);
Naomi and her recyclable Easter egg hunt (chocolate eggs in plastic 'eggs'); and yours truly doling up the food for nine adults, and
four children. Except for Saturday tea, when, as is now customary, my parents visited. There's a really good photo of the assembled
